As a kid I enjoyed the Diaclone line which later part of the line became known as Transformers, and Dia Battles was my favorite toy. So when Takara-Tomy announced early this summer that it was rebooting the line and its first toy was going to be Dia Battles, it was a dream come true.

Now we have color pictures of the modern take of Dia Battles from the All Japan Model Hobby Show.

Now imagine if Takara-Tomy makes Great Robot Base next in all its 24-inch tall glory!

The early Diaclone line consisted on Sci-Fi based vehicles that combined or transformed into a robot. The later line, which eventually was sold in the US as Transformers, was based on real vehicles.

All these robots were piloted by humans. And they though against the alien Waruders.

So, were they like the GaoGaiGar robots - which can have a pilot but are sentient with personalities (like Transformers), or just machines like the classic Super Robot Combiners like Combattler and Voltes?

CFF: At $36.99, the price was not bad. But with only 4 copies available which were roughly handled, and poor paint apps on the face and other small areas, I was a bit turned off and did not buy it. I might buy a copy later on as new stock becomes available... Dec 26, 2016 22:44:00 GMT
