Best and worst Made SOCs?

Ok this isn't about your favorites.. But what do u guys think are the best made SOCs? Talking about value wise, test of time,engineering etc...let's hear some input as to why you think the way you do or just list .. Thx!

Best SOCs
Daltanious Just cool! Great individual ships,lion,exotic looking,nice combination and with the custom back piece and legs removed it's just perfect!

God Sigma- Big! Solid! Great in individual robot mode,presence.

Iron Gear Lots of Metal,size,very cool transformation and exceptional detail.Heavy as hell.

Gaogaigar-Big,Cool,very very cool combination and engineering,shelf presence marvelous.. But the accessories packs are just junk just speaking of the main package only.

Voltes- classic! Excellent Gattai,all 3 versions are great,joints are iffy over time but just a wonderful medium size classic.

Combattler GX 50 and Nanbara Base-- this combination is a must have,GX 50 has loads of fun and accessories packed into the suitcase box,the Gattai /combination is just great,classic and the base is just the center piece of any collection and the GX50 fits perfectly inside..GX03 will not fit in base.

Worst SOCs
Raideen-- best part of this is the mountain if you have the set, the main robot is a very small fiddley piece of crap.A. Million useless falling off accessories that are held on with a whisker.Glad I have it cuz I love bases,and can't imagine having the stand alone version as this is close to the biggest failure of the line,get the SRC instead it's much better and less frustrating.

Goldymarg and Star Gaogaiger sets- don't own either thank God because what utter crap.big plastic robot hubcaps fall off in lieu of a useless pose holding a nail? Arm part can't hold itself up you use a plastic anti engineered stand.When holding hammer hand spins left or right without stand uggh what an ugly accessoriy and POC!

Daiku Maryu GX05R ok this toy is basically a hunk of metal dragon body sitting on two toothpicks that buckle under,none of the accessories parts stay on well including a blade which touches surface of shelf under body allowing even more tipsy legs.The small blades don't stay on and tail fins a tragedy.
The mini Gaiking is an afterthought from hell , an awful magnetic 2 inch cluster that never stays together or be able to pose.Woe is the collector who got this and had to wait many releases before a real Gaiking was released! A better toy but nothing great.

ok these two can go either way!
Daimos- a very cool toy how he all fits in that small truck is a miracle...great weapons and accessories...but hindered by a difficult transformation and HORRID and Weird non leg articulation.For whatever reason it commands a lot on the aftermarket .This guy is in severe need of an upgrade.

Ideon- great great engineering 6 vehicle modes !!! But it's all ruined by an inevitable crumbling of the shoulder skeleton made of a very awful plastic and tiny metal tubes as hinges.Thought mine was ok but sure enough one side began cracking the other a small split and tiny piece dislodged, I did a repair and gave the joints a super glue coat should be ok.. But what a shame.

Daioja - like this one but die cast is minimal and those leg parts do not like to stay on... Feels rushed and plastics.The individual robots have a strange top heavy feel especially the biggest one.On the good side it has extremely good transformation design and combination that only bandai can do.. Oh and the leg color looks like jeans. Lol

There ya have it!! Longest post I've done here to date take some time or not and let us know your feelings!

I'm not fond of the SOC combiners, and I really don't handle them once they're in the display cabinet. I would say, if my memory serves me right, that as far as SOC combiners, GodMars is my favorite. It is pretty sturdy when combined, and looks really good too.

But like I said, I prefer the SOC non-combiners, and of those I think the best made in terms of anime accuracy and engineering, are the Shin Mazinger (even thou I hate Shin Mazinger), and the Getter One and Getter Dragon OVA versions.

The SOC Reideen and Kotetsushin Jeeg take the "Suck-Ass" award in my book.

Simple, sturdy, fun, anime accurate, low maintenance, durable, heavy.






WORST:

I have never heard anything good about GX-42 Kotetsushin Jeeg

I forgot the Jeeg as I don't own him but indeed crap as I've witnessed on net.

Whomever was in charge of the SOC Kotetsushin Jeeg's project, totally disregarded how much die cast weights - hence FAILURE! It can't even stand in a neutral pose without doing a face plant. It looks good, but it sucks as an action figure.

But the SOC Reideen is still Bandai's Ichi Ban turd...

Worst:
- Zambot 3.
- Koutetsushin Jeeg.
- Big-O (The figure is great, but I classify it under worst due to lack of accessories that were sold as TWE. Cheap move on your part Bandai, cheap move. ).
- Danguard Ace. (Great Figure but too small specially when compared with its spiritual successor Gun Buster).
- DX SOC Mazinger-Z. (We all know the annoyances that were corrected on the Great Mazinger version).

1) Why do you think Zambot 3 is one of the worst SoCs (I think I know the answer, but just to be sure) and

2) Why do you think GunBuster is Danguard A's spiritual successor? It's the first time I hear such thing. Granted, I haven't watched Danguard yet, so I may be missing something.

Zambot is a very stiff robot stuff pops off it like leg stars and it doesn't stand correctly without much teetering..you need to push the feet forward and let legs rest on them...for a while I thought both of my Zambots were faulty.But TMZ said his stood fine,mine did not til I figured out that trick.Its just mostly arm movement only .. Leg articulation is Bill.. My reasons anyhow...not many people like the Danguard anime, n

For #1, Baron answer the question. And I hear from other owners that on their samples the legs broke.

For #2, Danguard Ace was a major influence on Gunbuster. Several characters and plot elements of Gunbuster are mirrored from Danguard Ace. The character Noriko from Gunbuster is treated roughly as a cadet, since her father was a famous Admiral, whereas Ichimonji from Danguard Ace is treated in much the same way because his father was a traitor. Both shows feature stoic and demanding trainers: "Coach" in Gunbuster and "Captain Dan" in Danguard Ace. Both shows also feature incomplete robots that were not usable at the onset of the show.

Interesting stuff.. I knew about the Getter animes, and how they influenced certain aspects of Gunbuster, but didn't know about the elements they took from Danguard A.

Also, I knew about the fact that Zambot 3 was pretty much a brick. But I thought it was a sturdy and durable chogokin.. too bad for the problems. I still want one. Well, I guess being one of the worst SoCs makes it an average gokin, doesn't it? There is much worse krap out there, after all. I don't mind the leg positioning too much, I'll just fiddle around with it till I get the figure completely upright, following Baron and TMZ's method. I just hope nothing breaks. Or detaches. Or whatever.
