A few years ago I made this wallpaper from a screen-captured CG animation project I had been
working on with a low-end Japanese engine...



...the original size of this is 2048x1436 high resolution (unlabeled, unsigned by me) in case anyone would like to download it
and scale it to your monitor screen size as a wallpaper.

That project was put on hold for a while as I've been upgrading my desktop machine.
The past couple of months I had finally acquired a minimum-standard 2-core desktop computer
bought dirt-cheap from a friend at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in my neighborhood,
and I am in the process of upgrading the hardware. Last week I bought two 1terabyte SATA
hard-drives and installed them as storage folders for my CG work.

I had also bought an ATI Radeon 5054 graphics card (1gb DDR2 ram) for faster rendering
of the CG models. My next step is to get a larger LCD/TV monitor with a built-in DVD player
so that I can test my animated renders on DVD disks instead of using hard-drive space.
My ultimate goal is to learn 3D Studio Max so that I can render my CG stuff almost in similar
style as that of Pixar or something close to the Captain Harlock CG-animated movie,
that way my Mazinger animation will look somewhat more realistic than what my
low-end Japanese modeler had to offer in the past.

If I can just get myself back into doing CG stuff I would be happy.
For not having done it in a long time, it's made me lazy. lol

Another Mazinger wallpaper, which I made about a month ago.
This time I green-screened one of Bandai's DX Maz images
and used it as a texture model in my Japanese engine.
I made the hangar scene and crane models from scratch in the Japanese modeler.
I made an animated video screensaver with it as well...

This includes the program which I used to make the screensaver- follow the installation
instructions in my Readme text file so that y'all can install the program
and make your own screensavers. Use Winrar to unpack this.

Some hand drawings I did a few years ago...









...some of these drawings can be clicked on to view them in their default image sizes.

About three months ago I bought a used Wacom Bamboo CTH-470 pen pad
in mint condition from a local seller on Craigslist... I haven't tried it yet as I had
just recently switched over to Win7 Ultimate, and even though Windows has
installed generic driver for it I still need to download/install the official driver
from the Wacom site.
I want to learn how to draw with this pen pad in programs such as
Adobe Illustrator and Smith Micro's Manga Studio.

Last but not least, this is a very large image file that I had vectorized
from an old Mazinger-Z manga cover that I found online.
Some of you may have seen this as a decal on eBay.
The original decal version was slightly mis-colored and the face looked weird.
I enlarged it inside a vector editor program and touched it up, and colorized it
to look more anime-correct with some additional custom cell-shading.
That's just the Mazinger robot image alone. I then had the funky Pilder in the foreground
removed, since Maz already has his Pilder docked in his head.
I then touched up the background and added a solar lens flare behind
Mazinger's head...



...I'll have to locate my original Mazinger transparent vector image in my laptop and share it here
in case you folks wanna print a high-definition decal or tee-shirt with it.

Which OBJ files are you looking for?

Meanwhile, back on topic...

The following folder includes some "mechanical" backgrounds that I've been testing
in my DoGA-CGA program. These are large background images in high resolution
so that you can print them out on paper as "hangar" backdrops for your figure displays.
Use Winrar to unpack them...

Here is an image sample...



...the original size of this image is 1532 x 1212. I only made it smaller to fit this post.
The reason I made these background images so large is to avoid bitrate and pixel artifacts when I project
them onto the background space inside my Doga program.
Also, large sized images reproduce much better when printed on paper and card stock, as well as they
make for better DVD menu background images this way.

Believe it or not, I created those images from pictures of empty computer cases interiors that I found online.
I cropped portions of the case interiors, then I cropped half of the cropped image and tiled the cropped halves
side by side, and "mirrored" in opposite directions to get a complete "wall panel" of a "robot hangar".

I've also included a twin bay exhaust fan to go on a wall however you past it into the next background image
of your choice.
Later on, I will work on these as transparent "bump map" textures for those of you who are into
Console Game modifications.

@baron...... remember that hangar crew set you gave me a while back?
Those are O-scale. They fit the DX Maz hangar nice, but they're too large compared
to the driver scale of the DX Maz's Pilder cockpit and crane vehicles...



Last week I bought two packs of N-scale work crews... they're small enough to match the scale
of the DX Maz's Pilder cockpit. Very small!
I found these packs at Hobby And Science shop in Watervliet across from the former PriceChopper store.
I will try out these N-scale crews asap and post pics here at SRW so you can see them inside the hangar.

Let me know if you need some N-scale work crews and I'll pick them up at that shop in Watervliet,
or I'll ask the clerk to place an order for them.

I plan to add more scaled diecast vehicles to the hangar.

(Sorry for going off-topic with this)

You can probably separate Mazinger's limbs to print then as action-figure parts.

.....another Mazinger vectorized image... (large image, high resolution!)









this green background is supposed to be Transparent, and the image is supposed to be as large as the one above it.
Open this image with Irfanview and save it as a .PNG file with the green background saved as Transparent.
That way you can use this transparent image as a polygon texture in the foreground of any 3D modeler program.
I've also made DVD menus this way.

magengar thanks for the invite ! if we are out that way we def will stop to eat!! And thanks about the n scale stuff super idea! The scale on the truck and the piled et are different it's wierd I'll let tmz elaborate if he'd like.i did buy a few n scale figures and modified them for the base but I don't display the hangar right now .. I'd be interested in seeing the ones you found for the future as when G maz comes out I may rethink my display and use the hangars .

I'm off work Sunday, so I'll set up my hangar and the DX Maz for some photos
to show these N-scale figurines.

When you look at the Pilder, and the truck and cranes together, try to look at the
driver seats in the vehicles (their windshields are dark, but use your imagination)
compared to the seat in the Pilder's cockpit.
I'm basically trying to match the N-scale figurines to the same size of the Koji pilot
inside the cockpit. lol

I plan to add more diecast work vehicles to the hangar, but they have to match in scale
with the hangar's vehicles. The hangar already has two cranes.
I'm thinking about adding a cherry picker in there...




and then later on, a heavy-duty crane...



This crane is 1:55 scale (oh great, I suck at this math).

Kaidiwei Construction Equipment Crane 1:55 Diecast Vehicles. This crane is about 24cm*5cm*5cm.
the jib loading boom can extend about 90cm, and the jib loading boom can extend and turn just like the
real crane car. Perfect for lifting parts all the way up to Mazinger's head while the default hangar cranes
are busy working on Maz in other areas. lol
But at this point I would have to make a large foundation platform for the hangar to use this large
crane in the diorama. I already have a 4x8 2-inch thick roofing foam block with a matte dark grey
paper shield texture that can become the "pavement".

Anyway, this particular subject should get moved to the Customs section...
...I'll start a thread there later this weekend for "Custom Dioramas", with this subject discussion in mind.
And also, members can post their dioramas there as well.
If you guys already have dioramas made, by all means go ahead and create a thread for it.
It would inspire more members to get creative.
