So, Amazon sent us an email today, telling us that they were closing our separate Amazon Prime accounts (with our own different credit cards in them) because, according to their email, we "violated" their policies. Well, the only thing I have ever done with Amazon is purchase items. But if they arrived damaged, or with crushed boxes, or were not what was advertised in their sites, I did send them back - you know, like Amazon claims Prime members can do, so they feel safe shopping online.
The funny thing is that my wife hardly ever ordered anything from Amazon. I think the last thing she ordered was a cheap $9 dollar silicone cover for her cellphone, and some hair conditioner. Oh, and she has never returned anything! No matter, Amazon closed her account as well. I guess nobody living in my house will be able to have an Amazon account.
Just throwing this out there for you guys to see who Amazon really is.
Ah... I forgot, they closed our Prime memberships, but did not refund us our membership fees. My wife just opened and paid for her Amazon Prime account less than a month ago too.
So, as you can see, just because Amazon promises (in writing) they have the best customer protection, it doesn't actually mean Amazon is willing to honor that promise. So beware when you are buying anything from Amazon, because if it arrives damaged or does not arrive at all, Amazon can leave you hanging.

I do not understand, Amazon closed both your accounts because you share the same address?
That does not make any sense.
I only used Amazon once, and it was to purchase a book about Korean Super Robots. And to be honest, I bought it there because it was the only place that a westerner like me could easily purchase. Other than that, I do not see the point in buying from that place.

My guess is that they did a review of my account before just before it was time to renew it, and noticed that I had made several returns. In my defense, everything I returned was because there was something wrong with it. I never returned anything just because I did NOT like it. But if the item I received was damaged in any way, including its box, or did not work, I did ask for a replacement.
Now, my wife hardly ever ordered from Amazon, and has never ever returned anything she ordered. She is pissed!

TheMazingerZI talked with a friend of mine who is a Prime user, and he said that someone at Amazon must have screwed-up. Like you he only uses Prime for their guaranty, and peace of mind that a product can always be returned. He says that returning products does not violate their policies, and he recommends for you to call their customer service to fix their screw up.

I did. Their reply was that I violated Amazon policy, which they never explained which policy it was. I told them that if that was the case, I wanted my Prime membership fee back in full. They told me that Amazon does not refund Prime membership fees for violation of policy. So, I got the mighty American Express involved now. Let's see how Amazon is going to explain to them they want to keep my Prime membership payment for violating their policy. American express is really good at customer service, so they will demand proof - which Amazon does not have, as neither I or my wife have done anything wrong.

That is wrong on their part. How can they punish you, and your wife, when they cannot even tell you what the violation was all about?
Good luck, and please keep us posted.

That's not fair, Amabitch closes your account and won't explain why or what policy you "violated", so they just straight up accused you of doing something wrong that you Didn't do and they won't explain what all that noise was about. If other folks are having the same or similar problem, you all should consult your credit card companies and seek advice from an attorney... a Class-Action Lawsuit is in order, that should smack Amazon right upside their head. zozo-mag

this sounds rather sketchy on AMZ side ... I always thought returns back to amazon were allow to support customer satisfaction. This is rather strange to hear.
