The colors are based off of the chinese monkey king folklore as his costume/armor had these exact color patterns. The curly designs is more references to the monkey king's armor patterns yet again.

I enjoy the fable that is the monkey king, but i'm not sure if i'm up for this release... I'm getting tired of seeing a billion maz when there's so many other bots bandai should just focus their attention to instead.

Bandai will never make a Golion or Dairugger unless WEP and Classic Media gives them the license.

As for the Mazinger-Z repaints, you have to understand that it is like Optimus Prime, and Mickey Mouse. They are iconic licenses that sell. This is why Bandai keeps milking the character, people never get tired of buying repaints of the same figure.
