An oldie but a goodie? (Daimos GA-84 Popy ST)

My memories of Daimos is brief at best.  I remember the watching a show whereby the bot would transform from a train into a bot a long time ago.  Not too many episodes in I was introduced to Dairugger and that was my memory of this guy.  Minimal exposure aside, I still remember seeing this guy being displayed at my local toy shop when I was little.  I would walk by it daily on way to school and I would see this guy displayed.  The colors always popped in the glass display case amongst the other gokins as Daimos really stood out with its red and yellow paint scheme.  Forward 30+ years later and I finally got a hold of this guy.  

He's your typical popy st gokin of that era: spring launching fists, hidden missile launchers in his legs, and a crap load of weapons/accessories that can shoot your eye out .   Hopefully folks will find the photos useful

Haha... nice figure, but all I could think about was the limited SOC GX-01RB you have there. I'm a huge fan of Mazinger Z, but there is no way in hell I would pay the insane amount of money the Black Mazinger Z commands! I though about it once, just once, and quickly erased that thought from my head.

LOL, I needed a black background when I was taking these shots and that was box I could find in my toy closet that had black the most black on it.

Oh the story I have on how I got the GX-01RB ... I literally saved up my pennies for this guy and sniped him in a Yahoo! Jp auction... I too had a price point I refused to go past and I think I just got lucky that time. I had initially wanted to pick one up from Mandarake but when I had finally saved up enough of my pennies for this guy, it was sold out. But you are absolutely right, the prices for this guy these day is just outrageous and I would never have gotten one to your point

Wow the ST is so much more anime accurate than the DX .. The transformation of the DX leaves that toy looking crazy e.g big head big side doors,robot buried in truck from front.. This one is beautiful.

SRCs without transformation have that going for them too,sadly only God Sigma has been made in the SR combiner field.. If this guy has elbow joints this could almost pass as modern!

Great paintings in the vintage stuff is sadly obsolete today.The wonderful booklet painting is super ! Reason why I always collect the poster size art of these paintings when I can find them like my Danguard poster.... Thanks for awesome vintage reviews Darkfriar!
