Well, I found this figure on Ebay, it was not exactly "Mint"...
Broken neck joint, broken right arm shoulder joint, pieces that had fallen off, and a claim that the electronics did not work.
So, I took the plunge and bought it. When it arrived, my first impression was "DAMN"! The seller shipped it in its original box! No protective box or even paper at all! And needless to say, the box looked like total crap!
Anyway, I was not planning to resell it, so hey - no big deal!... Right.
So the first thing I did was check out the electronics - or LED eyes and back pack. Got a set of batteries, put them in, and... the electronics WORKED PERFECTLY! This was very good news!
Then, I moved on to fixing the neck. Threezero really sucks at choosing quality plastic for joints that are supposed to handle some strain. The neck is a model-like (two halves glued together) one piece deal, with two balls at each end. Of course, one of the balls had broken off, since the hollow model-like construction and crap plastic material could never handle the stress of turning that huge head side to side and up and down.
What to do! Ha, insert a steel rod inside and make it indestructible! So I did...
I had performed similar fixes before on other figures with the same type of ball joints, so I knew it was the only way to go. Aphrodite looks way better now, even if she's still "battle-damaged".
Now, the shoulder ball joint is gonna take quite more time and effort on my part to get fixed. Again, the plastic material used for these joints sucks! The joint can't just be glued together, and since it has a shoulder-armor sliding system inside (yeah, Threezero made this super important joint HOLLOW), a metal rod can't be inserted in it. This will take some 3D designing and printing to get working.
I'll update this project as I make progress,
