Here is my quick review of the Megahouse Variable Action Earth Engine Impacter Captain Earth action figure.
If you are reading this review, there is a high probability that you already know who/what the Earth Engine Impacter Captain Earth is. However, for those that are not very familiar with the anime, here is some info:

Now, to the Megahouse figure...
The first thing I noticed when I picked up the box, was how light it was. I only had one Megahouse Variable Action figure before I bought the Captain Earth, the Rahxephon, and that one did not feel as light as the Captain Earth. Unless there is some metal hidden deep inside the figure, I could find ZERO on it.

For some reason, the box, and even the Captain Earth's design, reminds me a lot of the Bandai Robot Damashii HEROMAN... but there is definitely no relation.
Here are the trays. They're exactly like the Bandai Super Robot Chogokin's. The top tray holds the figure and some accessories, and the bottom one holds the rest of the stuff. The REQUIRED stand is packed in two plastic bags, taped to the bottom of the accessory tray.
The box has a very cool background insert. Wish it was a little bigger, but it is pretty awesome nonetheless.
Now to the figure. Megahouse is known for their hit-or-miss QC isues, especially paint applications. Fortunately for me, mine was pretty much perfect. Flawless paint apps, and pretty strong joints.
The four "skirt fins" are the ball joint type, and have to be attached to the figure. They go on pretty easily, but it is a little scary due to how small the ball joint pegs are, and how fragile the entire assembly feels. However, once on, they are tight and will hold any position with ease.
The joints are all friction joints, which I can see eventually loosening due to the huge arms and legs on the figure. Racheted Joints would've been better... I think.
I admit I have only seen the first two or three episodes of the anime, so I am not familiar with Captain Earth's weapons and abilities. All I can say is that it comes with two HUGE guns that "pop out" of its arms, and another one out of its forehead. These are swappable parts. The two cannons replace the plate/shield on the forearms, and a swappable "Cannon-head" replaces the original one by popping it off its ball joint.
There is also "open missile bays" (I think they are missiles, but may be lasers - haven't seen it used in the anime yet) that can be easily swapped with the closed "red hatches" on its upper chest.
Captain Earth also comes with "Open" hands, but they are so HUGE that they look a little ridiculous to me... so I didn't use them. Oh, I forgot to mention, it also comes with a "Gundam Style" crotch adapter for the stand, in case you rather display it like that. I didn't use it because I found the stand a little too big, and not strong enough to support the figure sitting so high.
So, overall and in my opinion, the Megahouse Variable Action Earth Engine Impacter Captain Earth action figure is cool, not too pricey, and a good representation of what I have seen so far in the anime. Due to its design (no feet), it requires a stand 99.999% of the time. I did not get the Kotobukiya model, but maybe, just maybe, if you have good model-building skills, the model would be a better choice. At least the model comes with the little robot - which Megahouse went cheap on, and did not include.
