This guy came in for me. I guess NY is actually on time unlike HLJ recently... Liking the new box style With Flash to show off the matte finish new packaging approach, i like the space conservation approach they are finally thinking about ... i know i could use all the space savings I can get when it comes to my toys and their ridiculously sized boxes these days.... so thank you Bandai on this. I like the B/W style for the info sheet provided Pros: - Awesome finish with the matte and chrome "de-polish" look - Better packaging (took Bandai a while to learn how to save on space with their packages finally - The new Blue Chrome+Matte is a nice touch - Wing pack included unlike the initial release of this guy Cons: - The new finish is highly prone to scratching ... mine came out with light scratches on the silver chrome de-polish areas around the leg thigh and bicep areas - Missing Super Power bracelet thingie that I recalled having in the add-on parts from the initial releases - Yet, another Mazinger Z in this line where it could of been used for other bots like: Voltes V, Dancougar, God Mars, Tetsujin 28, the list goes on.... - Would be cool if Bandai invested on articulated hands for the super robot chogokin line given how everything else is focused on articulation with this line and yet we're still given fixed posed hands ... Ok, time to get back to work before the boss notices that I'm taking pics of toys ...

Nice review! never thought about articulated SRC hands, maybe a bit too small for that?they would fall apart id think? yes the scratches on flat paint were speculated on ,so it ends up that is truth?hmm.Well handle him carefully, his head looks bigger?or something with proportions looks different?my imagination?

Wouldn't call it a real review in comparison to the pros but thanks Baron Everything is the same, it's probably due to my crappy camera from my phone that's causing the effect of out of proportions look here. Scratches will come easy on this guy and the articulated hands came from my recent modeling adventures with the Gundam kits I worked on recently (didn't think I would again but actually was fun). I think it can be done with a level of quality that Bandai can probably pull as they have the know how and engineering team to make it possible. I think, it just comes down to manufacturing cost here is what's probably stopping them. As reference material, something like a 1/144 scale (roughly around 5") would be the closest to a SRC here... (using my phone as reference 4.8 inches is what maz measures up to according to samsung galaxy s3 specs ) ... ngeekhiongex.blogspot.com/2014/05/hobby-base-ultimate-joint-series-ex.html

Nice! Thanks for the quick review, bro! I was expecting mine today, but seems like U.S. Customs took their sweet time in clearing my package yet again. Hopefully it'll be here tomorrow. To me, this version is just going to be a display piece. Flat textured paint is very prone to scratching indeed. }D

darkfriar you lucky you playing with your toys at work. While I had to wait to get home to open mine, and as usual a last minute work related emergency had to blow out to get me stuck for 3 hours. Thanks for the quick review, and the warning regarding the figure being prone to scratches. Good thing that I have my Chogokin gloves handy. But I politely have to disagree with you on one con that you listed. Although I understand the disappointment that a figure other than a Mazinger should have been released, in my opinion there is never not such thing as having too many Mazingers.

Just got mine! Nice repaint. Figure is exactly the same, no mold changes in the Head, Pileder, or anywhere. Just a different paint application. TBH, the AWESOME box is the best part of this release! LOL }D

Yep, when I saw that box it gave me a sense that I was holding something luxurious. Before that, not even the DX SOC Mazinger-Z box gave me this sensation.

Checked the Pileder connection on mine today. It fits, but that little bastard is springy as hell! Becareful it doesn't pop off and falls somewhere to be lost forever! }D
