Here's a short review of the Action Toys Mini Gokin Series UFO Senshi Dai-Apolon, or DIAPOLON as spelled on the boxes.
The figures are sold separately, at least at this time. They are numbered MI-01 (Header "Hedda" Robot), MI-02 (Trangur "Trongu" Robot), and MI-03 (Legger "Regga" Robot).
The figures are secured in plastic trays in each box...
...and, each figure comes with different accessories to be used when combined into the UFO Senchi Dia Apolon robot, as seen on the included instruction sheet.
The figures are not very large. In fact, they are smaller than my custom Mazinger Z Super Robot Chogokin figure, which stands at around 137.5mm/5.4 inches tall (never mind the missing arm).
However, these little figures are heavy with die cast! Check this out...
Header Robot:
Trangur Robot:
Legger Robot:
and the custom, one arm, Mazinger Z:
Yeah, you don't wanna get hit in the head with one of these little robots. You'll bleed...
As far as articulation, well, it varies depending on the robot. Here is Header Robot in a couple of poses:
Now it's Trangur's turn:
...Whomp-whomp. Yeah, Trangur only has articulation in the shoulders, elbows, and wrists.
Now, it is Legger's turn to amaze:
While the Legger robot has more articulation than Trangur, its body design limits the range of motion. Not the robot's fault thou.
Now, let's see the combined UFO Senshi Dai Apolon!
"Thank you for your sacrifice, brothers."
DAI APOLON!!!!!
The Dai Apolon is actually very solid when combined. Nothing falls off this guy...!
The combined Dai Apolon is not a light weight either...
He is pretty much as tall as my SRC Mazinger Z, but a lot shorter than the other recent rendition of the Super Robot - the Evolution Toy Dai Apolon.
Which by the way, in case you were wondering, it is not a light weight either - for being mostly plastic...
But enough about its height and weight. Let's see this awesome robot ready for battle!
Please, forgive me for not knowing the attacks or weapons names. I have never seen even one episode of the anime. Not a very easy to find show - in good quality anyway. If anyone wants to share the names, I'll gladly update the post with the info.
Here we go!
Dai Apolon Ball!!!
Bummer a stand alone Dai Apolon Ball weapon was not included. That one is molded into the hand itself.
Elbow Guard!
Apolon Cutters!
Some sort of Cutting Blades?!
Cutter Saucer! (I think?) By the way, I had to lay Dai Apolon on its back to get this accessory to stay put. Could not figure out how to attach it, no matter how many times I tried.
Moon Cross! (I think?)
That's it for accessories. Not too shabby I must say.
So, in closing, I highly recommend this action figure. The sculpt is a lot nicer than the Evolution Toy's version, and it has die cast to boot. Yeah, it is a very small figure, but I got it shipped EMS for less than $120 USD. There are not many UFO Senshi Dai Apolon figures out there, especially with so much die cast in them. Get them while they're still available!
